In Video Production

At a high level, creating animated videos can include discussions about on-screen text, voiceovers, background music and corresponding scenes. However, before leadership reviews the animation for approval, ask the following more detailed questions.

  1. Is company branding in the animation correct? How does the logo look and where is it positioned throughout the video? Does the animation include branded text and colors?
  2. Does the look and feel of the characters in the animation accurately reflect your employees? Construction workers shouldn’t look like office employees and vice versa. Employees shouldn’t resemble vendors visiting for repairs.
  3. Do the animated characters appear natural? We’ve seen characters sitting when they should be sitting or moving their arms in a backward motion. Other characters sit awkwardly or inadvertently highlight someone’s butt.
  4. How is the characters’ body language? Does the animation incorrectly imply one person is another person’s superior? Do the characters pointing at information actually appear to be angrily pointing at people to leave their offices?
  5. Do background scenes match the characters? For example, you might not want characters wearing business attire standing in what appears to be an industrial environment.
  6. Are some scenes simply too busy? Is an attempt at creativity or adding too much information leading to a confusing and distracting scene?
  7. Do the vehicles, equipment and technology in the animation represent reality or seem out of place? A stock image of a truck may not correctly represent what your employees drive.
  8. Is the animation’s unique style consistent? Animators can apply a personal, creative touch to how characters look. That’s great! However, do some characters look drastically different than others? For example, are the details of characters’ faces consistent or appear as if two different people created the characters?
