We like New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s Father’s Day dance on The Tonight Show. The dance is called “The Evolution Of Dad Dancing.”

  • It shows a politician that sometimes critics portray as a bully has a sense of humor and is willing to poke fun of himself.
  • Christie looks like an actual dad and not a politician trying too hard to find a place in pop culture.
  • His dance moves genuinely remind us of how dads dance at family events such as weddings and bar mitzvahs.
  • We can particularly relate to the dance move entitled, “This Garbage Can Isn’t Too Full Yet, I Can Do It Tomorrow Morning.”
  • Contrasting a conservative “Republican Convention” dance with a wilder “Democratic Convention” dance is a fun poke at political stereotypes.
  • “This Bridge Is Closed” dance shows self-deprecation on even the most sensitive of political issues. (Christie walks off the stage pretending he is angry but returns for a few final moves.

We know. Staunch liberals don’t find Christie funny and focus on his weight. Staunch conservatives chuckle but find similar skits by President Obama beneath the presidency.
